The Prosecutor's Office is asking for up to 17 years in prison for a follower of Jehovah's Witnesses accused of abusing a minor during meetings of the congregation and threatening him to force him to have sex.


The trial began this Thursday at the Barcelona Court, and facts that occurred between November 2018 and December 2019 are judged, when the accused, taking advantage of meetings in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, approached the minor, who at the time was 14 and 15 years old, on numerous occasions and touched his genitals over his clothes against his will.
Repeated abuse
According to the indictment, these behaviors were repeated every time both were in the said room on the occasion of the congregation's meetings, about three times a week.
In addition, the defendant allegedly contacted the victim through the Snapchat application and asked him to send him photographs and videos masturbating, to which the minor agreed after the defendant's insistence.
Similarly, the prosecution maintains that the defendant asked the victim to maintain video calls in which both touched each other, and that these calls were repeated three times a week for a month.
The accused is charged with a continuous crime of sexual abuse of minors, for which the prosecution is asking for six years in prison, a continuous crime of making child pornography on the 16 year old minor, for which nine years in prison and a crime of threats, which adds 2 more years.

In addition to the lawsuit, the prosecution requests 10 years of probation after the completion of the prison sentences, in addition to the prohibition to approach and communicate with the victim, and the disqualification of four years after the prison sentence for any profession or trade in which there is contact with minors.
Finally, the Public Prosecutor's Office demands that the defendant compensate the victim with 15,000 euros for the moral damages caused.
